Highpoint Scientific’s new Apertura 60EDR 60mm Doublet APO f/6 refracting telescope is portable, easy to use, and offers optics made with Ohara FPL-53 glass for excellent views.
The Apertura 60EDR can be used as a travel telescope, a guide scope, a super finder or a spotting scope. Weighing just 3.25 pounds the scope is 9.5″ long with the dew shield retracted fully and with a fully extended dew shield, it is just a tad over 12″.
The scope offers has a 2″ rack & pinion focuser with 10:1 micro focusing capabilities. A fitted hinged ring drops down to a sturdy foot with 1/4-20 threads. Simply attach the 60EDR to an imaging tripod for the ultimate in portability, or attach the foot to a dovetail that will fit your alt-azimuth or equatorial mount.
Alternatively, you can always connect the Apertura 60 to a larger OTA via a dovetail and use it as a guide scope. Lastly, remove the hinged ring, get a larger finder bracket and you have a finderscope with the ability to accept multiple eyepieces, including an illuminated reticle.
